Bowthorpe Church celebrates receiving £20k of National Lottery funding to improve its disabled and baby changing facilities.
We are delighted to announce that we have received a grant from the Lottery fund to help with our refurbishment. The church was built in 1986, and a lot of our facilities have become outdated, including our disabled toilet and baby changing area. We have been able to upgrade this to modern standards because of this grant, and as well as this we have been able to replace chairs some of which are almost 40 years old. Doing this refurbishment will ensure a much more pleasant and comfortable experience for all our users, not just for services but for the Tots group, the Hope Café, Food Bank as well as our regular hirers and one-off hirers of the church. It will mean that the disabled facilities will be much more accessible, as before it was difficult for anyone in a motorised wheelchair to use them. The upgrade to the baby changing facilities also means that a modernised baby changing unit is now in place. The two small rooms have been knocked in to one and a much larger space has been made for ease of movement.
The replacement chairs will also be bought allowing the centre to be more widely used for different events. The new chairs will be stackable unlike the old chairs, and easy to move around for those using the church.
We are very grateful to the Lottery community fund for this generous donation so that we can continue to expand our work here within Bowthorpe, as without this funding it would have taken us a long time to achieve this goal.
Here are the below and after pictures of the work this award enabled us to carry out.
